Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal was run by Mr and Mrs Caddy for nearly 17 years and after Mr Caddy passed away a few years ago, Edna Caddy was joined by the Joint Poppy Appeal organiser, Joe Brooks. Joe took over as the sole Organiser after Edna had an accident. We thank Edna for her years of work on our behalf. The Poppy Organiser covers Andover and District and has raises in the region of £ 20,000 annually. 2004. This is a large increase since Joe took over.

Well done Joe.

In 2006 the Branch struggled to get a replacement for Joe Brooks who retired from active involvement in the Poppy Appeal when he reached four score years

The area covered extends to Grately in the west, Longparish in the east, Hatherden and Tangley in the north and Abbots Ann in the south. There are a number of local organisers who handle the villages, getting their supplies of poppies and boxes from the main poppy organiser in Andover. In Andover itself, there are two very large industrial estates and many schools to be covered. A lot of hard work is involved for the willing helpers: and it is all worthwhile.
